Telecommunication means no need for going to work and learning at school ??

ĐỀ 19/3/2011
Telecommunication means no need for going to work and learning at school. Agree of disagree ?

AGREE
-         Connect people
-         Stay at home and do may work at the same time
DISAGREE
-         Disturbed by children, games
-         Multi-tasking leads to greater stress
-         Physical ills because of telecommunication
-         People become self-centered and alienated
-         School is better environment for students while technology and internet affect them adversely.

The boom of technology is conducive to diversifying our workplace than ever. It is quite a common scene that there are people making money through phone contacts and online systems, which leads some people to believe that paperless officies and schools arrive. I, however, totally disagree with this idea.

Admittedly, the appearance of telecommunication is seen as an effective way to connect people from all walks of life. Workers can stay at home, finish their tasks while baby-sitting, especially female ones who can grow more versatile by dint of applying the internet. Besides, students are able to create online conferences with their friends, debating their academic problems and receiving frequent feedbacks within seconds from their beloved teachers.
Undeniably, telecommunication is gaining its popularity, but that does not mean that it can totally replace the role of social working places. At home, it is, highly likely that workers can be disturbed by children’s crying or involved in time-wasting online games, while their work deadline is calling their name. Also, according to social studies, despite the fact that people grow multi-tasking, by virtue of telecommunication, their tasks are mixed randomly, which results in their greater stress. At the same time, an escalating number of people who undergo a series of physical ills, such as digestive problems, hypertension and insomnia are officially recorded, as a result of telecommunication overload. With the dearth of face-to-face conversations, modern people, too, become more self-centered and alienated from each other. It is believed that technology, say, telecommunication is not the first catalyst, but it actually exacerbates this connection. In this case, how could people obtain mutual sympathy to reach the zenith of work deals? Ironically, such technology is born to facilitate our work, but eventually, makes us less producive.

Students and children themselves are barely spared the ills of telecommunication-related diseases. For its optimum benefit in physically connecting people through soulless windows, students are currently having less need to go to school and bury themselves in the screen of computers, yet they are sure to find something missing in their life. What is it? It is irrefutable that school is not the single-place for students to attend lectures, rather a social destination where they can enhance other skills, for instance, communication, physical practice through sports activities and team-spirit, which can never be nurtured through the instructions of steel cables. Even worse, burying themselves in the virtual world, little children might be disoriented, injected with unfiltered information, like violence scenes, and gradually become distant to the real-world. Surveys have shown that since the burgeoning of technology, there are an increasing number of children that suffer from autism, grow aggressive and passive in thinking as well.

All in all, telecommunication flattens the world, yet ironically, can breakdown people’s connection in pieces, if abused. Schools and offices are here to stay, in accordance to their growing presence.

Should companies allow their staff to work at home?

ĐỀ 02-12-2012
The company is expanding in the world. Many companies around the world allow their staff to work at home. Do you think that this has negative or positive effects on individuals and society?

Yes
- More flexible
- Do some jobs at the same time
- Make use of cheap labor
No
- Uncontrollable
- Loss of secret information
- Not effective, no communication, isolated

People are increasingly connected through the support of Internet. Some people think that this means has positive effects on individuals and the society as a whole while others fear about the world without real interaction. In my view, this trend shows both positive and negative effects.

On one hand, once people bring their work into their home, they manage their jobs and family more effectively. This is especially true of women who are required to take care of their children while needing money to support themselves and other people. Besides, no sooner have people mastered the virtual world than they expand their knowledge ceaselessly and become intensively informed to find more jobs. One of my friends, after being allowed to work at home, does two jobs at the same time and earns a higher living.
Companies, in addition, are able to access labor from everywhere, particularly the cheap source in developing nations to maximize their economic edge. In the world of escalating amount of crazy traffic, namely in big cities, moments to work at home prove precious to long-time commuters. Honestly, millions of dollars have been wasted because of people’s suffering traffic jams. My mother, for instance, used to spend more than 2 hours going to work, and she came to the company every day, being exhausted and always finding herself in hurry to finish work before given deadlines.

Yet, there are still problems arising behind this trend. It is undeniable that as a result of being given more freedom, workers grow less disciplined. The virtual world could be useful to some, but seem distracting to any person who lacks the self-effort to concentrate on their required jobs. Surveys have shown that there are a climbing number of people playing games online while working at home, triggering their lower performance, actually. Furthermore, with workers being entitled to stay at home, companies find it hard to control secret information. Who can guarantee that these workers hardly reveal some importance news under no supervision of their strict bosses? Equally important, work places are not the zones reserved for work concentration, but the cozy ambience where people are sentimentally attached. Would the world be as inspirational as expected when most of people stick their eyes to home without concern about others and the need of face-to-face interaction?

job satisfaction or job security?

ĐỀ 19/11/2011
Some people think job satisfaction is more important than job security while others argue that people should not expect to enjoy their jobs, but permanent job is necessary. Discuss and give your opinion

Job satisfaction (support)
-         People only content when they truly perceive the meaning of the job
-         Safety does not mean that all the time, particularly when things go awry
-         Different nations have different definitions of job security or job satisfaction
Job security
-         Necessary to several types of people : women, the old people
-         To achieve higher  goals of life, the limitation in the level of satisfaction is needed

Job is part of our life, undeniably. To some of us, as long as we find safety in our job in terms of salary and work environment, we have it all while others always seek for adventure and something else in hope of finding more satisfaction in it. My essay will explain both sides.

First of all, the security in jobs is necessary to several types of people. Women whose lives are committed to their families see it as acceptable to have a job of modest salary and little risk. In other cases, some older people who just want to earn a living to cover their twilight years’ expense are simply happy with a steady job, for instance, typing paper or cleaning house. Others, however, only content until the moment they truly perceive the meaning of the job. It is known that some people who actually earn millions of dollars are willing to give up on their current jobs, which surprises normal people like us, but makes sense to fans of seeking satisfaction in jobs. Perhaps, what they are searching for is the chance to explore their abilities to the fullest extent and surmount challenges, rather than money.

Second of all, people who are in favor of security of jobs believe that to achieve higher goals of life, the limitation in the level of satisfaction is needed. Those targets such as loyalty, hard-work, advanced expertise, promotional and pay rise opportunities in a career are only obtained when people have the peace in their mind, or in other words, find their jobs secure. The opposing idea is, nevertheless, that actually, safety does not mean that all the time, particularly when things go awry. Facts have shown that financial crisis can happen unexpectedly, which annoys people and deprives these people of the chance of safe work while those people who change jobs to have more satisfaction gain more knowledge and skills and can quickly tailor themselves to others, eventually so as to search for safety in the rapidly changing world. To clarify these two sides, different nations actually have varied definitions of what is meant truly security or satisfaction. Let’s take Japan and America for example. Japanese who are known as being assiduous and steady in their jobs are believed to be satisfied only after they can produce the most sophisticated products whereas in America, its citizens are only inclined to reach the level of genuine satisfaction by dint of being labeled as the leaders of change. Both them are career-oriented, though. Vietnam, interestingly, stands out from other countries in the world when the satisfaction of jobs is met only if its people may successfully both have a stable job and a happy family, and without the latter, the so-called level of content in jobs is down in spiral.
