The map
below is of the town of Garlsdon. A new supermarket (S) is planned for the
town. The map shows two possible sites for the supermarket.
The
map describes two possible market locations S1 and S2. In general, two
locations have their own advantages and disadvantages.
On one hand, from
the map, S1 is far from the housing, industry and other living areas, which proves
inconvenient for people. However,
thanks to the appearance of main roads and railway that run through the
location, it is still accessible to people. Besides, in the long term, when population grows, this location is
expandable since it is located in a large countryside.
On the other hand,
S2 which is
situated right next to a series of living areas with less than 25 kilometers
far away and a population rate of above forty thousand is seen as greatly beneficial in
travelling. Those in city center will find it convenient as well, yet due to no traffic
zone requirement by the authority and limited space, residents around here may
be less willing to come. In
the future, for the purpose of extension, it is, hence, less
advantageous than S1.
