Governments should spend money on the supporting artists?

ĐỀ 25/5/2013
Governments should spend money on the supporting artists (such as musicians, poets, pictures) or on other important things. what extend do you agree or disagree??

Pros
- support artistic industry and motivate artists
- promote national culture image
-generate profit
Cons
- other key fields left abandoned
-reduce work productivity
- waste of money

Art is crucial to the development of countries. Some people claim that governments' support for art industry is of great value to social growth while others claim that this can put national economy in danger. I strongly agree with the former view for the following reasons.

Admittedly, as a result of investing immense budget in this industry, other key fields are left abandoned. Particularly, in developing and underdeveloped world where millions of people are in abject poverty, it sounds irrational for this field to be heavily addressed. Besides, if people are obsessed with the artistic world, they may soon forget the real life and become unproductive. After all, a strong economy is the one in which people work hard to produce actual products while artistic items are believed to be of intangible value.

On the other hand, there are numerous benefits of financially sponsoring arts. First, arts such as poem, music and pictures are to color the world. Listening to songs or writing poems, people grow more attached to emotional world and stay away from mundane worries of life. Their creativity is also nurtured through their imaginative minds in the production of artistic works. Second, with more budget poured, artists are increasingly motivated to give birth to wonderful works. Surveys have shown that due to being underpaid in this field, a great number of people leave for other more fertile pastures such as business, technology and the like, despite their years of pursuing and airing past strong passion for it. I still recalled the story of a man who died in rags while endeavoring endlessly to write this last work, which he believed as the only masterpiece of his life. Sometimes, the harsh materialistic life deprives these artists of the source of inspiration and love for going beyond the uncharted territories. Equally important, no sooner are artistic works highly received by the mass than national image of the entire country is promoted. Several countries like America where a significant amount of profit is allocated for the development of this field actually generate huge profit. The successive shows and exhibitions of artistic masterpieces around the world have financially benefited both artists and governments, undeniably.

In brief, there are more pains than gains in the decision to earmark more budget for arts, since writers, musicians and drawers are inspired to beautify.
